Emblem

The burn-in

BLACKFLAME's emblem, named for phosphor-screen burn-in: a solid black flame with a relay mast cut through it in negative space and a dark halo that drinks the glow, inside a phosphor-green ring turning slowly counter-clockwise. The ring's only text is the motto 'NO ONE OWNS THE DARK · SOMEONE IS STILL LISTENING ·', closed by an eleven-tick dial-scale tuning gap. It never spells a callsign or frequency; one that does is a counterfeit flame. It overwrites hijacked feeds, masks the face in footage, marks every relay and machine BLACKFLAME touched, surfaces in static, and intercepts end on 'STILL LIT.' — answered by old operators with 'Still listening.'

    1. War's end

The Switch-Off: receivers auction the cartels' relays line by line and unbought colonies go quiet. Unlisted relays begin coming back on, each marked with the burn-in, and the legend of BLACKFLAME begins.
