The Sleepers
Ledger Wars exo-frames left standing in Mire's water, moss-covered, herons nesting in their hatches. Frames that learned their pilots so well the pilot became optional, they still wake for no reason anyone can give and wade across the bayou with nobody aboard: made war machines, self-aware and unemployed.
