WOLFPACK — OPERATOR UNIT

Redline

Fiery young field operative commanding the Next-Gen Strike Corps — all throttle, learning brakes

FIELD HISTORY

She arrived at the Kiln as the youngest candidate in WOLFPACK history and finished the nine-day course in eight, a record that still stands. Master Flint passed her, docked her a grade for not sleeping, and wrote one line in her file: "Will be exceptional the day she learns the difference between fast and early." She has the line memorized. She pretends she doesn't.

The callsign came from her instructors: she redlines everything — drills, vehicles, herself. What the nickname misses is that she does it on purpose. She grew up the youngest of five in a scrapyard family that raced rebuilt rally cars on weekends, and she learned early that the redline isn't where the engine breaks; it's where you find out what the build is actually worth. She applies the principle to squads now, and to her own career, with occasionally spectacular results in both directions.

After Umbra Reef — where she earned the fresh scar on her cheek and a commendation she values less than the scar — Rourke gave her command of the Next-Gen Strike Corps, WOLFPACK's young rapid-response wing. Half the network thinks the promotion came two years early. Redline agrees, which is exactly why she works the way she does: the fastest way to end an argument about whether you belong is to be undeniable. She keeps a strike-corps roster in her jacket and reads it before every drop, because the difference between her and a rookie, she says, is that her adrenaline now runs on other people's names.

INTERCEPTED COMMS

  • Four hostiles, two of us, and they have no idea we're here. That's not a fight, that's a head start.
  • Flint says fast isn't early. So I got early. Now I'm early and fast, and he has to live with it.
  • Scars are the mission signing its work. This one's from Umbra Reef, and I'm keeping it.
  • My ears are ringing and I'm furious about it. Give me thirty seconds and I'm back in.
  • We go on green, we come back on empty, and everybody comes back. Say it back to me.

PSYCH PROFILE

Drives: Making the Next-Gen Strike Corps undeniable — and proving the early promotion was late

Frictions: Being called a rookie, being protected without being asked, and slow briefings

  • taps the red visor twice before a breach, a scrapyard-racing luck ritual
  • talks faster the calmer she actually is; slows down only when it's truly bad
  • carries her strike-corps roster on paper and touches it before every drop
